What is meant by a Meta tag?

The Meta tag (also simply called “tag”) serves the purpose of telling the search engines about your site. The important search engines review your website and go through your Meta tags for determining the appropriate category of your website. Details of your website like title, keywords, and description are revealed by the Meta tags. Having these tags helps you to secure high rankings on the principal search engines. These tags are written in between the header tags used for a webpage. Meta tags are used for the purpose of conveying info to web browsers, search bots, etc. They are not visible anywhere inside the webpage. There are two chief tags out of all Meta tags present that have a role to play in the process of website optimization. These two tags are the Meta description tag and the Meta Keywords tag. Some software programs are also present which assist in developing highly targeted Meta tags relevant to your webpage.
